Unlike other sway controllers, this approach works to control sway from the start rather than just resisting sway once it’s begun. When towing in a straight line, the spring bars on either side of the trailer’s A-frame are locked in position. This essentially creates a “rigid” connection between tow vehicle and trailer and minimises the effects of induced sway caused by high crosswinds or passing vehicles. Usually the spring bars ride in a locked-in position, even on fairly sharp curves.

Trailer sway is one of the most common concerns for those who tow. Trailer sway can be influenced by poor weight distribution, tyre pressure, towing speed and suspension. But most commonly it is caused by strong winds and wind buffets from large vehicles such as trucks. Complete sway control can be obtained by fitting a Bayside Towbars Friction sway controller. Bayside Towbars sway controllers are designed to be used in conjunction with a weight distributing systems and prevent trailer sway by restricting and damping the movement between the tow hitch and the trailer.
